"Wonderful time on a 47” Saona, bareboat Split to Dubrovnik

My wife and I just finished a one-way bareboat on Sunny Wave from Ultra’s Split base down to their Dubrovnik. It was an absolute blast.

The Split marina is massive, but Ultra’s staff walked us through every step. The boat was in great shape (more on this later), clean, and ready to go. We’d watched the boat checkout video on YouTube before arriving and that helped Ultra and us be on the same page and the briefing was quick and professional. The base manager even took us out for a few minutes to demonstrate how this cat handled in reverse. Massive prop wash over the rudder that spins the wheel unless you’re braced. That was the kind of professionalism we got from Ultra the few times we needed to interact.

Aside, the Split marina market right by the dock is quite small, with a limited selection. If you’re looking to provision for the whole trip, hit a larger market in town.

Trip was going great, but over night 2 our topping lift/up haul parted at the top of the mast. This kind of stuff happens, especially on charter boats where people over torque lines. I got on WhatsApp over morning coffee to let Ultra Split know. The base manager offered to come straightaway and fix, but we punted. Moored up that afternoon, told Ultra we were done for the day, and a hour later they pulled alongside and had it fixed within 20 minutes.

We were finishing the trip up, and I asked for Ultra Dubrovnik to give us a hand bringing her into the marina. Pulled up to the fuel dock and the base manager was there to meet us. Checkout was quick and thorough and zero stress.

Highly recommend Ultra Sailing. We had a great time and will 100% use them again."

"I recently completed the Competent Crew 6-day sailing school. I am very satisfied. We sailed on the first day!!
Instructor Marin is very experienced and an excellent teacher. He answered all of our many questions, not just about sailing, but everything relating to seamanship in great detail (weather, boat maintenance, etc.).
After course completion you get ISPA certification to sail a boat up to 12m length.
The boat is excellent and roomy when sailing, and Marin tries to explain the differences on different sailing boats."

This was our first time chartering a sailboat and Ultra took care of us with recommending a great skipper and guiding us on what to do before we got on the boat.

"We have recently chartered a Benetau Oceanis 48 - Flou and wanted to leave some feedback of the experience.

The yacht was presented to us in impeccable conditions 2 hours ahead of the schedule. Their base was very well organized with all the documents on file ahead of time which meant the check in process was very quick. This was really great as it allowed us to sail on Saturday afternoon. The experience with the guys at the base was really good and I would definitely recommend Ultra charters to others.

Furthermore during our week sailing we had a small problem with the mainsail halyard which had snapped. Tonci the base manager was great to plan a convenient location to meat us on our route and with the minimum disruption managed to climb on top of the mast to rewire the halyard in no time. Great work Tonci and partner, and thanks for your tips should it ever happen again!!!
