Coastal Navigator - Ultra Sailing school

Right after getting to know basic techniques of sailing and navigation, program of this course will provide more sufficient ground knowledge and techniques to achieve better competency to safely navigate your boat. This course has specific attention to navigation and ground knowledge of all navigational aids we need to safely navigate the boat in unfamiliar waters. This 6 day course is designed for 4 attendants which will sleep on the boat every night on a different island. Course programme is not fixed and can be changed according to weather forecast. Every day we will make around 25NM of navigation and sailing. Every night we sleep on different island. Individual briefings will be every day after the programme to discuss every situation in further detail.

PRICE INCLUDES:

25% VAT, tourist tax, accomodation (sleeping on boat), instructor, waterproof suits rental, sailing school book, fuel, bedlinen, small towels, mooring or buoys, loan of sailing suites and gloves

NOT INCLUDED:
moorings/berths in Marinas, food and beverage

NOTE:

  • The sailing course is held on sailing boat Beneteau First 36
  • possible changes due to weather conditions
  • Pre-course experience: ISPA Day Skipper Practical, Ultra Navigation Course Practical
  • Assumed knowledge: ISPA Day Skipper Shorebased Component(workbook),  Ultra Navigation Course Theory
  • Clothing: we recommend to have sunscreen during summer, hat, sneakers, warm sport clothes for winter

 

Day 1 - Sunday


  • 10:00 meeting in ACI MARINA SPLIT, buying groceries for 6 days on the water
  • 11:00 vessel equipment
  • 12:00 setting sails (lunch on the water)
  • 12:30 identifying 20 different chart symbols
  • 13:00 list of Light, Buoys and Fog signals
  • 16:00 nautical publications
  • 17:00 berthing, tieding up the boat
  • 18:00 individual briefing
  • 19:00 dinner

 

Day 2 - Monday


  • 09:00 breakfast
  • 10:00 sailing directions
  • 11:00 douglas type proctractor
  • 12:00 setting sails (lunch on the water)
  • 13:00 deviation
  • 14:00 variation
  • 17:00 berthing, tieding up the boat
  • 18:00 individual briefing
  • 19:00 dinner

 

Day 3 - Tuesday


  • 09:00 breakfast
  • 10:00 ploting a fix using 2 or 3 lines of position
  • 11:00 ploting a fix using transit and bearing
  • 12:00 setting sails (lunch on the water)
  • 13:00 accurate dead reckoning
  • 14:00 speed and distance formulae, ETA
  • 15:00 accurate plotting of an eletronic fix using GPS latitude and longitude
    checking the GPS position
  • 17:00 berthing, tieding up the boat
  • 18:00 individual briefing
  • 19:00 dinner

Day 4 - Wednesday


  • 09:00 breakfast
  • 10:00 large to small scale chart changes
  • 10:30 passage plan
  • 12:00 setting sails (lunch on the water)
  • 13:00 running fix
  • 17:00 berthing, tieding up the boat
  • 18:00 individual briefing
  • 19:00 dinner

 

Day 5 - Thursday


  • 09:00 breakfast
  • 10:00 setting sails
  • 10:30 ground knowledge of lateral and cardinal marks
  • 11:00 grond knowledge of cautionary buoys and special purpose buoys
  • 12:00 in depth knowledge of collision situations
  • 13:00 (lunch on the water)
  • 17:00 berthing tieding up the boat
  • 18:00 individual briefing
  • 19:00 dinner

 

Day 6 - Friday


  • 09:00 breakfast
  • 10:00 setting sails
  • 11:00 sailing examination
  • 13:00 navigation examination
  • 15:00 berthing and unberthing examination
  • 17:00 berthing, tieding up the boat
  • 18:00 individual briefing, certificates and diplomas
