ISPA Coastal Skipper sailing course

ISPA Coastal Skipper

The ISPA Coastal skipper course is the last level of certification that you can pass on the Adriatic. It prepares you for renting a boat abroad, along the coast of the Oceanic area. If you are planning to sail across Oceans, we recommend that you continue to ISPA Yachtmaster Offshore at one of ISPA partner schools located on an Ocean (Canada, Japan…)

The Coastal Navigator sailing course is designed for advanced sailors looking to enhance their skills. This level will test your key knowledge and techniques to safely navigate your boat on long coastal passages, including night navigation. In the Coastal Skipper course, participants learn by endorsing the role of the skipper and managing the crew of Coastal navigators in every aspect of the coastal navigation. Of course, the instructor is here to guide them and guaranty safety.

The course accommodates up to 2 aspiring coastal skippers, along with the Coastal navigator applicants as crew. The skippers take the crews each night to a different island. The daily sailing distance is approximately 30 nautical miles (NM).

Course content: Route planning and Navigation on Adriatic sea. Avanced practice of knowledge acauired at Coastal navigator level: using navigation charts and aids, signs and abbreviations, anchoring techniques, side and Mediterranean mooring, collision avoidance at sea, proper use of lights, knots, weather forecasting, nautical publications, protractor usage, and concepts of variation and deviation.
